What you will learn

  • Identify the laws that govern freight handling and load securing in South Africa.
  • Recognise the risks associated with different types of freight.
  • Inspect securing equipment and identify when it must be replaced.
  • Secure loads correctly using cross-lashing, loop lashing, and direct tie-down.
  • Demonstrate safe manual handling and lifting techniques.
  • Complete a pre-departure vehicle and load inspection.
How this course works You move through six lessons in order. Each lesson ends with a short quiz that you must pass before the next lesson opens. At the end, a 15-question final assessment decides whether you earn your certificate. The pass mark is 80 percent.

    What to expect

    • Ten multiple-choice questions and five short-answer questions, pulled at random from a larger bank.
    • You must score twelve out of fifteen or more to earn your certificate.
    • Answer every question. You can navigate between questions using the Next and Previous buttons.
    • The timer starts when you click Start. If time runs out, the assessment submits automatically with whatever you have answered.
    • If you do not pass, you can review your weak areas and retake the assessment immediately.
    Short-answer tip For short-answer questions, type in plain language using the key terms from the lessons. You do not need full sentences. Short and clear is best.
